I am Essi Lindberg, a communications professional, Master of Arts, child protection activist, and deputy councilor in Turku and the wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland (Varha). I have twenty years of experience in social research, advocacy, and communication. Currently, I lead communications at an economic research institute. Throughout my career, I have worked in various development roles, including in social and healthcare NGOs, as well as in the municipal and university sectors. Additionally, I have served on the board of a state-owned special assignment company that employed people with partial work capacity.
I am a Green deputy councilor in the wellbeing services county of Southwest Finland (Varha), a member of the Regional Executive Board’s Wellbeing and Health Promotion (HYTE) division, and a deputy member of the Social and Health Services Committee. Additionally, I am a Green deputy councilor in the City of Turku and a deputy member of Turku’s Urban Environment Committee.
I advocate for human rights, equality, and equity. I am committed to decision-making based on independent research, tackling inequality, and investing in sustainable growth through education, research, and development – while respecting the limits of our climate and nature.
I support financially independent wellbeing services counties, transparent and research-based decision-making, a thriving workforce, and high-quality, equitable social, health, and rescue services produced sustainably and responsibly. I am running for Turku City Council to continue my work for transparent, research-based decision-making, a sustainable economy, and responsible business practices. I want to promote community engagement and participation, equal and high-quality education, as well as ambitious climate action and biodiversity protection. Let’s make Turku the capital of sustainable well-being – together!
